Gene Yaremko passed away on Friday, November 24 in Edmonton at the age of 82. Gene was an incredibly well-respected and knowledgeable river engineer, instrumental in the growth and development of NHC over a career that spanned nearly 50 years.
When NHC won the contract with Alyeska to provide river engineering expertise for the Trans-Alaska pipeline project, there was a need to expand the firm; Gene was hired as the first NHC staff member and would from there become a future principal. His experience on this project allowed him to build a world class reputation in the planning, design, construction, and operation and maintenance of pipeline river crossings.
Gene was a valued mentor and colleague and will be dearly missed by many.
