Engineering Technologist

Northwest Hydraulic Consultants (NHC) is an international firm of consulting civil engineers, geoscientists, and technologists that provides professional services for the development, management, and protection of water resources.
We are seeking candidates with strong skills in geomatics and drafting to participate in our river and coastal engineering, hydrology, and geomorphology projects.
Qualifications
- Technical graduate from a recognized program in geomatics, civil engineering technology, or similar
- 2 to 4 years of work experience
- Proficiency with survey data collection techniques that include total station and GPS-based instrumentation (static, RTK and DGPS) and processing data into digital terrain models using Autodesk Civil3D® software is required
- Demonstrated experience completing complex technical assignments in a team environment
- Self-motivated, with an ability to work independently, safely, and prioritize multiple tasks to meet tight deadlines
- High technical standards and a commitment to delivering high quality work products
- Ability to define problems, prioritize tasks, and meet agreed upon timelines
- Demonstrated collaboration and teamwork skills
- Excellent communication and organizational skills; expected to use their skills to improve the quality and efficiency of our products & services
- Ability to swim and comfortable working in and around water
- Legally eligible to work in Canada
Advantageous Qualifications
- Familiarity with various hydrographic survey techniques (acoustic doppler current profiler (ADCP), single and multi- beam sonar); corridor modeling and drafting of production-level drawings in AutoCAD®; and use of software that includes Autodesk Recap®, Global Mapper®, Trimble Business Center®, and Pix4D®
- Experience in construction settings and remote river and marine environments
